Wassamasaw Powwow

The Wassamasaw Tribe of Varnertown Indians hosted their annual Powwow event on Oct. 21, 2023, at Old Santee Canal Park in Moncks Corner. The impressive, educational and colorful daylong event included a tribal history exhibit; performances that showcased native dancing, singing, and drumming; and demonstrations of traditional crafts like pottery and beadwork, among other activities.
